Preparing for Your Surgery

Once your surgery has been scheduled, we will ask you to come in for a pre-op appointment so that we can go through your medical history.

We will call you the day prior to surgery to give you your scheduled arrival time. If we haven’t called by 3:00 p.m., please contact us at 360.442.7900.

The day of your surgery, you will meet with your anesthesiologist prior to the start of the procedure.

General Information

  • Notify your surgeon if you notice any changes in your physical condition, such cold symptoms, chest discomfort, cough, sore throat, broken skin or rash on the operative site
  • Take a shower the morning of surgery
  • Wear loose-fitting clothing. Do NOT wear jewelry, make-up, or nail polish
  • Do NOT smoke, eat, or drink after midnight
  • Patients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will remain at the center while the patient is in surgery
  • If you have a history of “difficult intubation,” notify your anesthesia provider and the nurse manager at Pacific Surgical Center
  • Make sure that you have reviewed the Patient Rights and Responsibilities document
  • You MUST arrange for someone to give you a ride home and stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery

Medications

  • Our nursing staff will provide instructions regarding the medications that you are allowed to take

Bring the Following the Day of Surgery

  • Insurance information/card
  • Eyeglasses/hearing aids
  • Inhalers
  • Insulin
  • Heart medication in its original prescription bottle
  • Crutches, walkers or other necessary equipment
  • Detailed medication list (unless already completed on the Medical History form)

It is your responsibility to follow the instructions listed above. Your physician may have additional instructions. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your procedure. Contact us at 360.442.7900 between 8:00 and 5:00, Monday through Friday, if you have questions.
