Turner, Earnest Assist at Pro Rodeo
Bill Turner, MD, of Longview Orthopedic Associates and certified athletic trainer Ed Earnest of Longview Physical & Sports Therapy provided medical coverage at the 2012 Thunder Mountain Pro Rodeo.
This marked the 19th consecutive year that Turner has assisted at the event, which is part of the Cowlitz County Fair. Earnest has been involved for eight years.
“We supplement the coverage provided by the EMT’s and primarily deal with minor things behind the scenes,” Earnest said. “We also give advice about ongoing orthopedic issues the riders might have.”
One bull rider showed up with a fractured foot, sustained at a previous rodeo. To add to his woes, he got thrown and suffered a possible concussion. Another rider suffered an elbow injury when he was stomped on by the bull that had thrown him.
“Overall, it was a quiet rodeo, in terms of injuries,” Earnest said.
Longview Orthopedic Associates and Longview Physical & Sports Therapy are located at 625 9th Avenue at Pacific Surgical Institute.
