Pacific Surgical Institute opened in Longview, Washington, in June 2006. The $10 million project is backed by seven local physicians: William Turner, Bruce Blackstone, Patrick Lassen, David Black, Jon Kretzler, Chad Chesley, and Eric Hansen.

The 40,000-square-foot facility houses an outpatient surgery center (Pacific Surgical Center), as well as eight other tenants – Longview Urology, Pacific Imaging Center, Longview Orthopedic Associates, Longview Physical & Sports Therapy Services, Northwest Medical Analytic Laboratory, Washington Plastic Surgery, Columbia Cardiology, and Flourish Skin & Laser.

“Everyone is excited about the facility,” Turner said, “not only because of the architectural design, but also because of the state-of-the-art technological capabilities. We provide a wide range of services in a very comfortable atmosphere.”

Pacific Surgical Center offers three operating rooms and an endoscopy suite and handles procedures that do not require overnight stays. Nine surgeons operating at PSI - six orthopedists, two urologists, and a plastic surgeon – have access to the surgery center. In addition, other physicians in the area have the opportunity to apply for privileges and conduct procedures at the facility.

“It’s a very efficient set-up for patients,” Turner said. “They can get their pre-surgery imaging and blood work done on site. It’s also a great environment for physicians because we supply all of the equipment and an experienced group of nurses and techs who are qualified to handle virtually any surgical specialty.”

PSC is the only outpatient surgery center in the area to offer orthopedic, urologic, GI (gastro-intestinal), gynecologic, ENT (ear, nose & throat), podiatric, and general surgery procedures.

Pacific Surgical Institute serves patients throughout Cowlitz, Clark, and Lewis counties, as well as those in the Long Beach, Astoria, Clatskanie, Rainier, and St. Helens areas.

PSI was designed by Taylor Gregory Butterfield Architects and constructed by Aldrich & Associates of Bothell. Local subcontractors – including Entek, Advanced Electrical Technologies, Interior Resources, Cascade Networks, Twin City Glass, Sound Redi-mix, Gibbs & Olson, and LP&H Mechanical – were involved in a large share of the work.
