Dr. Patrick Lassen of Longview Urology retired from the U. S. Air Force (USAF) Reserves in 2006 as a lieutenant colonel. However, Lassen continues to maintain ties to the Reserves by serving on the Board of Directors of the Society of Government Service Urologists (SGSU).

“The goal of the SGSU is to represent and educate urologists employed in federal service,” said Lassen, who has been a board member for the past five years. “Our mission is to host an annual education meeting called the James C. Kimbrough Urological Seminar.”

Lassen joined the Reserves in 1986. After earning his medical degree at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU), he completed a general surgery internship and a urology residency at Willford Hall USAF/Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

From 1997 through 1999, he was the Chief of Urology Services at Landstuhl Regional Center near Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. He also completed temporary duty assignments in Italy, Turkey, and Lithuania.

“I did general urology and advanced traumatic life support at Landstuhl,” Lassen said. “We treated military personnel who were serving in Bosnia.”

Dr. Lassen joined Longview Urology in 1999. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a member of the American Urological Association. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and boating and is active with the Boy Scouts. Dr. Lassen and his wife, Natalie, have two children.
